“I don't paint beauty — I paint emotions. I paint the state of a person who sees more and feels deeper.”
In a world where aesthetics are often reduced to mere decoration, Dariusz Milinski dares to do something entirely different. His paintings capture authentic experiences—intense emotions, reflections on transience, and a profound sense of existence. The exhibition "Hunter of Transcendent Phenomena" is not just a display of works, but an invitation to immerse yourself in a realm where art awakens the soul and compels deep contemplation.
Who is Dariusz Milinski?
Born on July 10, 1957, in Cieplice near Jelenia Gora, Poland. Dariusz Milinski has always drawn inspiration from the world of Lower Silesia. His artistic journey, marked by contrasts, began with painting on various materials—from cardboard to fabric. Over the years, he has held more than 250 solo exhibitions, including shows at the prestigious “1756” gallery in Chicago. His autobiography "Urodzony na cmentarzu" ("Born at the Cemetery") and numerous projects, such as Noah’s Ark, the Castle of Silesian Legends, and the Lużycki Fort, stand as testimonies to his relentless passion and creative evolution.
For Milinski, art is more than decoration—it is a profound record of emotions, a story told through brushstrokes that moves and provokes reflection. He does not create merely for admiration but to leave an indelible mark, evoking feelings that are unforgettable.
The Creative Philosophy – Why Not Beauty?
"I don't paint to create something pretty. I paint to leave a trace—to make people stop and feel."
These words capture the essence of Milinski’s work. His paintings are depictions of emotional landscapes, full of contradictions, raw intensity, yet also subtle delicacy. In his works, one finds a stark contrast between his earlier, colorful, grotesque expression and his current, dark, transcendent approach. Drawing inspiration from the aesthetics of deformity and emotional realism—echoing the works of Beksiński, Wojtkiewicz, and Linke—his art challenges conventional standards of beauty.
As a hunter of emotions, Milinski shows that true art does not need to please the eye in order to touch the soul. His work compels the viewer to reflect on their own experiences and the condition of modern humanity.
Plawna Dolna – A Theater of Life and Art
The artistic arena that sets the stage for Milinski’s creative endeavors is Plawna Dolna (Poland) — a village transformed by his vision. Here, the artist maintains his studio and gallery, and has realized extraordinary projects:
The Castle of Silesian Legends – a place where local myths and tales acquire a magical dimension.
The Museum of the Displaced – an institution that reveals the rich history of the region and bears witness to the experiences of those who have endured hardship.
The Replica of Noah’s Ark – a handcrafted replica symbolizing the fusion of tradition and modernity.
